Gdansk Old Town walk

Itinerary: During this tour we discover fascinating history of Gdansk – one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic coast, often called the “City of Amber”. In its Golden Epoch – 16th century Gdansk was the richest city in the Polish Kingdom. Being an important port and trade centre Gdansk became a real melting pot of ethnic groups, cultures and religions. Among the most famous Gdansk citizens were eg. an astronomer Jan Hevelius, a physician Daniel G. Fahrenheit and the well-known philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. During the tour we walk around the Old Town and discover all its highlights: the Royal Road, the Artus’ Court, magnificent Gothic St. Mary’s Church and the famous Neptun’s Fountain, a symbol of Gdansk. We also visit the Museum of Amber to get to know the secrets of the fossilized tree resin – since ancient times it was called “the gold of the North” and Gdansk was one of the most important cities on the medieval Amber Road connecting the Baltic Sea with the Mediterranean Sea.
