Tour of Masuria Lakes District (2 days)

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Pick up from Gdansk hotel. Transfer to Reszel Castle 3* or Ryn Castle 4* for overnight.
On the way we propose to stop in: Frombork (a town where Copernicus lived and was buried) or Lidzbark Warminski with historical centre including 14th century Castle of Warmia Bishops (today Museum of Warmia).

Day 2:  Tour of Great Masuria Lakes region (8 h):
– Swieta Lipka – one of the most famous shrines in Poland and the unique example of baroque art. The complex was built in the 17th century and is known for its beautiful ornaments and wall paintings; we listen to the organ concert here
– Wolf’s Liar – a massive underground military complex used as Hitler’s headquarters. It’s a hidden town in the woods consisting of 200 buildings: shelters, barracks, 2 airports, a power station, a railway station, air-conditioners, water supplies, heat-generating plants and two teleprinters
– Gizycko is a tourist centre, often called “the capital of yachting” in Poland. Giżycko’s most interesting monument of exceptional historic value and tourist appeal is the Boyen Fortress. It is a rare example of a 19th century Prussian-school fortification and is one of the best preserved monuments of defensive architecture of the 19th century in Poland. Other attractions are: The Water Tower (great viewing platform with a view of Gizycko and surrounding lakes) and the The Turning Bridge, built in 1860, is a unique structure of this kind in Poland and just one of two in Europe.

Overnight in Masuria or late return to Gdansk.
