Gross-Rosen Nazi camp

Itinerary: We visit Ross-Rosen, the largest Nazi concentration built in the Lower Silesia region. It is one of the most significant places in the history of WW II, a symbol of Nazi crimes against the population, forced labor and unimaginable barbarism. It started operating in August 1940 and for first 2 years it was a small camp, mainly supplying the service of the granite quarry where the prisoners were forced to work. Exhausting 12-hour work in the quarry, starvation, extremely bad hygienic conditions, terror and maltreat by SS crew and functionary prisoners made the Gross-Rosen camp one of the hardest, with very high mortality rate. In 1944 the camp was enlarged by creating approx. 100 subcamps in the Lower Silesia region. About 125 thousand prisoners went through the camp, 400 thousand victims died. They were citizens of Poland and other European countries, the largest number of victims were Jews, Poles and Russians. During the tour we visit the Museum and the Memorial. Our guide will make this tour an important and stirring experience.
