Jewish Heritage Tour

During our tour we retrace the history of Jews in Wroclaw, which dates back to the 12th century. Lot of famous Jewish merchants, scientist, professors, artists and politicians contributed to the history and splendid culture of city. Before WW II, when Wroclaw belonged to Germany the Jewish community of Wroclaw was the third largest one in the country. During the Crystal Night in November 1938, hundreds of the buildings belonging to Jews were demolished and the Synagogue Na Wygonie was blown up by the Nazis. WW II almost erased the Jewish legacy in Wroclaw, but we can still see the places reminding about Jewish history. We walk around the Old Town and the to learn about Jewish life in medieval times. We visit the Quarter of Tolerance and the White Stork Synagogue with an exhibition on the history of Wroclaw Jews. We also see the Old Jewish Cemetery (19th century) which is considered to be not only a beautiful necropolis, but also unique museum of sepulchral art.
